Patsy graduated from Holbrook High School in Lowell, N.C., in 1965 where she enjoyed her many friends and time as a cheerleader. Shortly after graduating she went on to study at the American Academy of Hairstyling. This began a forty-five year career as a hair stylist. A few years later she moved to Camp Lejeune and proudly delivered her first son Jimmy into the world. In 1974, she started working with Mrs. Glenda Carpenter of Gastonia, N.C. They quickly became best friends and worked side by side for thirty-eight years before Patsy retired in 2011. In 1990, Patsy married Darrel and together they shared a cherished life. Over the years, they welcomed new grandchildren into the family, each absolutely adored. She also loved photography which has left us with beautiful memories and images that were creatively captured through her talented eyes. Patsy and Darrel were confirmed as members of All Saints Episcopal Church in 2004. She joyfully served the church honorably for eleven years in the roles of Chairperson of Hospitality, Lay Reader, Lay Eucharistic Visitor, and Chalice Bearer. She was also passionate about helping others and showed it through her many years of volunteer work. She worked tirelessly for those who were afflicted with Aids; raising money for the Aids Council of Gaston County through her work during the Grooming for Life cut-a-thon and the House of Mercy by participating in the Walk for the House of Mercy. Patsy also regularly served meals in the Salvation Army soup kitchen and joyfully participated in the Relay for Life to raise money for Cancer victims.
