Elwood Lawrence Whitcomb Jr., 42 years young, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, entered into his eternal home of happiness on Sunday, April 12, 2015.
His departure from this life was sudden and unexpected.
Little Larry, as he was nicknamed by those who knew him, was born Saturday, March 17, 1973 to his loving parents, Elwood Lawrence Whitcomb Sr. and Deborah Elaine Taylor Whitcomb who survive in Mill Creek.
They say Saint Patrick's Day was evolved by the Irish, in celebration of their luck and their blessings.
Well no one on this earth felt more lucky, nor more blessed, than our entire family, upon the joyous arrival of this beautiful boy.
Also left to cherish his memory is his darling daughter, Kenna Whitcomb, his pride and joy. No words can convey the love he felt for her.
One sister, Natalie Caravasos and husband Mike, of Morgantown, two nieces Hailey Hill and Mya Caravasos, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He loved them all with his whole heart, as they too loved him dearly.
Little Larry was born into a large circle of people who love, and will miss him tremendously.
There to meet him on the other side was an even larger circle of loved ones, who entered there before him.
Paternal grandparents, Sonny and Elizabeth “Betty” Whitcomb and maternal grandparents, Lawson and Opal Marie Taylor.
Little Larry was the apple of his grandparent's eyes.
Two uncles, Gary Taylor and John Hattersley, one cousin "Buddy" Taylor and three loving aunts, Carol Buckley, Buzzy Hattersley, and Pam Nitz, who I know took him under her "wings" immediately upon their reunion.
Little Larry was a graduate with the class of 1991, from Tygarts Valley High School.
He was a member of the Tygarts Valley Bulldog's basketball team.
He had a love of sports, especially salt water fishing on the open sea during boating trips with his dad in Florida.
He was an independent licensed contractor who worked in construction alongside his father for many years.
He also had a lifelong dream of becoming a long haul trucker, and had an early on fascination with big rigs.
We proudly watched as he achieved this dream, and drove his truck along the open highways of the United States.
Elwood Lawrence Whitcomb Jr. will be forever remembered for his charismatic personality, quiet nature, and more importantly for his heart of gold.

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour.
Rev. Todd Corley and Steve Currence will officiate and interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
