Miriam L. Crouse Porter of Shippensburg passed away on April 11, 2015 at 5:40 p.m. She was born in Decorum, PA on September 26, 1926, a daughter of the late Henry and Ethel Kerlin Crouse.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Dale age 2, Kenneth, Donald, and Radford Crouse and by three sisters, Althea Cisney, Edith Jones, and Laverne Jarrett.

Miriam is survived by her husband William C. Porter of Shippensburg, and four children: Gary Porter (wife Shirley) of Chambersburg, Kristine McFeely Nichols of Odenton, MD, D. Stephan Porter (wife Toni) of Enola, and Kimberly Porter of Fairfield. In addition she has 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

She graduated from Shippensburg High School and from Thompson Business School.
Miriam was an employee at Letterkenny Army Depot as a clerk/typist and later worked for MIDA, and Descom as a supervisor.

She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg. Miriam enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She and Bill were members of the Chambersburg Dance Club. Miriam was an avid reader and loved to travel. She was a volunteer at the Chambersburg Hospital and served as a past president of the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary.

Miriam and Bill would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with The Rev. Dr. Brenda J. Kiser officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, 112 N. 7th St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
