The men were recruited in the counties of Shelby, Madison, and Wilson. Members of Company G were from Alabama, and Company H, later F, contained men from Georgia.
Died in a hospital during the Civil War - location unknown. As so may of the wounded soldiers and those dying from disease, they were buried in nearby cemeteries either in an unmarked grave or mass graves.
Note: I've added this memorial as his wife is a sister to my great, great grandmother, Mary Rice Bird, and any soldiers who gives his life for his country deserves recognition. His brother, Joel, married another sister, Emily M. Rice, of my g, g grandmother. Comments, edits, corrections are welcomed.
