OBITUARY
Independent Patriot, Lamoni, IA, Thurs, Feb 16, 1899, pg 5
The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Hulda Brenizer, was born in Platte County Missouri, February 2, 1846; and died at her home, three and one-half miles south of Lamoni, Iowa, on February 9, 1899, being at her death 53 years and 7 days old.

She was married to Oliver E. Brenizer, January 28, 1867. To this union were born eight children, seven sons and one daughter. Of these, six sons and the daughter remain to mourn be irreparable loss of a kind and loving mother.

To know her was to love her and those who knew her closest loved her most, and the grief stricken husband has lost a kind and faithful and devoted wife, who always seemed to want to cheer every step of his life, the community has lost, a devoted friend.

Sister Brenizer began to be afflicted about sixteen months ago; and her afflictions developed into internal cancer, and for months before her death she became a great sufferer.

No means or pains were spared for her recovery and comfort, going to Chicago and other places for treatment, but all of no avail. The icy hand of death was coming, and on the date above she met it with Christian zeal. She bore her pain with great patience, and seemed cheerful to all, and took great interest in talking of her future home.

The funeral was conducted at the family residence by the writer, February 10. Chapter read, Revelations 22; text Acts 9 read the last clause of the 36th verse, and John 3rd Epistle [3 John 1], 4th verse.

The whole community with the writer join in sympathy with the bereft, family; but we sorrow not as others who have no hope. Thus has another one of the early settlers of Decatur County, fallen. She was laid to rest in the Andover cemetery, to await the resurrection, when the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with him, Matt. 25:31. Farewell wife, mother and friend. Peaceful be thy silent sleep.
--N. B. Sill, Darlington, Missouri.

Note: Andover, Missouri, is 3 1/2 miles south of Lamoni. It is presumed that is where she died, in Harrison County, MO, rather than Decatur, County, IA. Those looking for a death certificate may need to consider both possibilities.
