Nona Fern Jackson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 10, 2015. A private graveside will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Restland Cemetery on Greenville Avenue. A public celebration of her life will be at 2:00 p.m. at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas TX. Mark Turman will officiate.
Nona Fern (Burton) Jackson was born on August 22, 1923 to Clifford McGregor Burton and Edna Steffey Burton in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended Poly High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She met her future husband of 63 years, David Leroy Jackson at church where she played the piano. They were married on January 13, 1940 in Weatherford, Texas. While David was defending our county during World War II, Nona worked at North American Aviation as a riveter. She then became a homemaker to her two sons, Larry and Greg.
At a later time, she entered the business world, successfully selling linens and related items. Her friends and family will remember her for superior style and dress and her entertaining. She was affectionately known as " Meemaw" to all.
Nona was preceded in death by her husband, David Leroy Jackson and her son, Larry Jackson. She is survived by her son, Greg Jackson, her daughter-in-law Judy Rice Jackson; grandchildren, Laura Jackson Elms, Marshall Jackson, Matt Jackson, Martin Jackson, Jennifer Jackson Mitchell, Scott Jackson; great-grandchildren James Jackson, Murray Elms, Mitchell Jackson, Luke Elms, Parker Jackson, Grace Ann Jackson, Campbell Jackson, Cooper Jackson, Kate Jackson, Lucy Jackson, Landry Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
Towards the latter part of her life, as her memory started failing, she never faltered in her faith in God and her willingness to share the scripture John 3:16 to all.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry White and Fred Simon. Pallbearers will be Marshall Jackson, James Jackson, Mitchell Jackson, Matt Jackson, Parker Jackson, Martin Jackson, Luke Elms and Robert Mitchell.
