Durant Alexander Oakley was the son of Haywood and Eliza (Bullock) Oakley. Durant was the brother of William James Oakley (born June 30, 1837 in NC, died October, 1912 AR), John Simpson Oakley (born February 23, 1840 in NC, died December 5, 1879 AR), Martha Oakley (born April 6, 1844), Elijah Preston Oakley (born August 13, 1846, died February 28, 1929. He married Sallie M. Kindley. Their children were: Hortense, Cyrus K., A. Ann, Cyril P. Francile 1898-1968, Elwood Preston and Floy W.), Frances Adeline (born March 22, 1849), and Thomas Haywood (born 18 August, 1851. His wife was Callie and their children in 1880 were: Ollie, Lester & Cora). Durant Alexander Oakley married Margaret Celestia Brame (March, 1846-1907). Their children were: William B. Oakley (born March, 1871), Anna E. Oakley (March 12, 1873-August 12, 1909. She married a Mr. Rice), Oscar Alexander Preston Oakley (born May 4, 1877. He married Lillian and they had no children. D.A. Oakley, one of the leading citizens of Rogers, died on Tuesday of last week at the age of 53 years. He leaves a wife and 5 children. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South and were conducted by Rev. Martin.
