Walter L. Larsen, Jr. 83, Green Bay, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, at Allouez Parkside Village. He was born January 7, 1932 in Green Bay to the late Walter and Lorraine (Nelson) Larsen. He graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago in 1950 and the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering in 1955. He served in the military for over 22 years in both the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator and the United States Coast Guard Reserve as an Air Training Commander. He also worked as a commercial pilot. He was an extremely creative individual who enjoyed doing extensive research and designing everything from power boats, to new inventions, to most recently building a new energy efficient home. One of Walter's greatest joys was eating at family gatherings and enjoying many trips to the Old Country Buffet with friends. He also liked spending time at the family cottage in Egg Harbor and traveling between his Green Bay and Seattle residences. Survivors include his close family friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by sister, Joanne (George) Stevenson and a brother, Paul Larsen. Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. from 6:00 pm until the prayer service at 7:00 pm with Deacon Jim Gauthier officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
