The love of my life left us so suddenly on April 11, 2015, at Samaritan Hospital in Watertown, N.Y. As he so often did for others, he was helping with a family project when he was stricken. There are no words to express how his loss has broken our hearts and left us with only sadness and memories of a life cut so short. Bob was born in Utica, N.Y., on February 8, 1958, in a driving snowstorm as his mother fondly reminded us on each of his birthdays. He was the second son of Ward and Marietta Wolcott and graduated from Holland Patent Central School, where he was a standout athlete in football, baseball and basketball. He followed his brother Rick to Austin Peay State University in Tennessee to play baseball and graduated with honors. He and Rick had a great love for fast pitch softball, and they started playing when they were barely teenagers. Bob had a great mind for the game and he "owned" third base for many years. He played for Prospect, the South Trenton Pub and later for Advanced Auto among others and could remember a single play in a single game from years ago. He also managed league teams over the years. He mentored young players and managed winning teams in the annual Ausable Forks tournaments. He retired from the game and then really focused his attention on his golf game. We just returned from vacation in Florida where he was really impressed at how he was hitting the ball so long and straight feeling excited to have a great year in his leagues. Over the years, through school and sports, Bob made many lasting friendships and made sure to call "Beaner" and "Bonehead" on their birthdays every year. "Ned" was the "third" brother in the Wolcott household and kept Marietta busy with their antics. After college, Bob helped his dad in the milk delivery business and later worked for many years at N.H. North for Mike Piekielniak. He was currently working for Hudon's in Barneveld and said he really enjoyed his job. Bob and I got together on Memorial Day 28 years ago, and we have been inseparable ever since. He was my "Baxter Bobby" and I was his "bisquit". My life was blessed when I met him and I will never be the same without him. I wish him peace and love until we meet again. Bob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law; his nieces; and by his sister-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother and best friend, Richard "Scooter" Wolcott. He is also survived by his love and her family. He leaves so many wonderful friends too numerous to mention but always in his and our hearts... Burial later in the spring will be held at Prospect Cemetery... Published in The Observer-Dispatch on Apr. 14, 2015
