Elizabeth “Anne” Massie Noble died peacefully, on April 6, 2015, at Allen Morgan Center in Memphis, TN. Anne was born on May 13, 1925 in Trenton, Kentucky to Owen D. and Annie Darnell Garrott Massie. She graduated from Pembroke (Kentucky) High School, Ward Belmont School in 1944 and from the University of Michigan, School of Music in 1947. After graduation, she taught music at Fairfax Hall in Fairfax, VA. While visiting her aunt in Santa Fe, New Mexico, during the summer of 1949, she met Arthur Thomas Noble, Jr. an attorney from Taos, NM. They were married in October of the same year and lived in Taos where she played the piano and organ for her church. She moved to Nashville in 1961 and worked for First American National Bank. Upon retirement in 1984, Anne returned to her family home in Pembroke, and later Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where she enjoyed music, book clubs, gardening, needlepoint, and her pets. Following a cancer diagnosis in 2000, she moved to Memphis to be closer to her daughter, and lived at Trezevant Manor. There, she played the piano and organ for church, chapel, memorial services and various events. Her many friends enjoyed her talent and will miss her greatly. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Owen D. Massie (Memphis). She is survived by 2 children – Elizabeth Anne Noble Campbell (Hunt), Memphis, and John Massie Noble (Nancy) Taos, NM, and a step-son, Arthur Thomas (Tom) Noble, III, of Taos, NM; 3 grandchildren: Dr. Elizabeth Anne Campbell (Durham, NC), Martha Hunt Campbell Robertson (Terry), Memphis, Jed Noble (Shelly) of Taos, NM; 3 great-grandchildren, Hunt Allen Robertson, and Isis and Jasmine Noble. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Jeff Warren and the many wonderful and caring nurses and staff at Trezevant Manor, Allen Morgan Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Crossroads Hospice. Funeral services were held, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Edward’s Chapel (Trezevant Manor), 177 North Highland St, Memphis.
