LAMARQUE — Mr. Anthony Flint “Tony” Reid passed from this life early Saturday morning, April 11, 2015, in Houston after a long bout with cancer.

Born September 15, 1939 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Reid had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. He had been a member of Arcadia Christian Church in Santa Fe and enjoyed working with wood. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. Tony had worked for numerous law enforcement agencies throughout his 39 year career which included the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshal’s Office in Galveston, Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, Hitchcock Police Department, Bayou Vista Police Department, where he had been Chief of Police, Tiki Island Police Department and finally retiring from Texas City Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Gray Reid, Jr. and Cecile (Amato) Reid. Survivors include his loving wife of over 56 years, Patricia Reid of LaMarque; daughters, Nydia Hiett and husband, Dan of Palestine, Annette Reid of Buffalo, Debbie Vaughn and husband, Mike of LaMarque, Toni Duncan and husband, Tim of Sarasota, FL, Lois Carker of Texas City; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Spielman officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
Casket bearers will be Brett Beneditti, Chester Dore, Tim Duncan, Dan Hiett, William Lack, Jr. and Mike Vaughn. Honorary bearers will be Gene Austin, Brent Beneditti, Chris Colombo, Aaron Crenshaw, Bryan Prisco and Jon Sanders.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
