SOUTHSIDE, Alabama -- A Southside man died Saturday following an accident in which his vehicle drove through the living room of a home around lunchtime. Southside Deputy Police Chief Philip Robinson said the incident happened at 11:50 a.m. Saturday at a home on the corner of Thompson Road and Blake Drive. Michael Maddox, 47, was driving a 2004 Toyota Matrix when he apparently lost consciousness. Police believe his car left the roadway on Thompson Road and traveled about 315 feet, crossing two driveways until it ran through the living room of the house on the corner. The vehicle then struck a tree. Robinson said the accident is still under investigation, but Maddox had a medical history of seizures. He died at the scene.
