Sara (McAllen) Altemose, 92, of Stroudsburg, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, William F. Altemose, Jr. on Friday, October 31, 2014.
Born on June 23, 1922 in New Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Stella (Shoop) McAllen formerly of Turtle Creek, PA. She was a sister to James McAllen of Duquesne and Margretta Robey of Arizona; and the late John McAllen, Fred McAllen, Anna Ottavian, and Elizabeth Stephenson.
Sara loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She was the mother of Joy Fry of Stroudsburg and Billie Possinger and her husband Greg of Decatur, IL, and grandmother of Michael Fry of Stroudsburg.
She was a homemaker and sold Avon products for 30 years.
As a member of Berean Bible Fellowship Church of Stroudsburg, she served faithfully with her husband, Bill. She was an active member of Christian Women's Club of Stroudsburg, serving as a hostess and in publicity.
Sara enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years, baking, teaching children's Sunday School, watching football and golf, and golfing with her husband, Bill.
Sara sends her love to all her church family, friends, neighbors and her many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 11:00AM to noon on Saturday, November 8, at the Berean Bible Fellowship Church, 1028 Tara View Drive, Stroudsburg where the funeral service will begin at noon with Pastor Davis Duggins officiating. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
