William Mitchell "Will" Whitfield is the firstborn son of Cebren William Whitfield and his first wife Miss Nettie Smith. C.W. and Nettie were married in McLennan County and lived in Robinson, McLennan County, Texas known as "Robinsonville" at that time. This marriage ended and she went to her family in South Carolina, the reason not passed down in the family. But the boys remained with their father, my Great Grandpa Whitfield. Will and his brother James "Jim" Coleman Whitfield lived in China Spring (Erath Community), McLennan County, Texas, after Grandpa Whitfield's marriage to my Great Grandmother Martha Jane Franklin on 28 July 1892. Sometime after their marriage he purchased a section of land off what is now known as Yankie Rd. The 1900 census shows the two sons with Cebren William and Martha Jane Whitfield in their home in the Erath Community. The first born child of Cebren William and Martha Jane Franklin Whitfield is my Grandmother, Zola V Whitfield.

Will and Jim lived with my Great Grandparents, C. W. "Coot" Whitfield and his second wife, Martha Jane Franklin Whitfield, my Great Grandmother on the Whitfield place that I grew up on. Will seems to have had only one son and one grandchild, a granddaughter who are deceased. I'm looking for his descendants. My husband and I searched and searched to find his grave; I was almost collapsed from the Louisiana sultry heat when my husband Hani found it. The marker is flat and almost completely covered with dirt and weeds/grass. We cleaned it and put flowers at their graves, my GG Uncle Will I had searched for as well as my father had for so very long. We could have known him as he died in 1965 and we feel a terrible loss for not having him in the fold. I am having the marker raised to make sure it is not lost again! I'll pass the torch for that obligation to my children. (Whitfield Descendant, Nancy Yankie Sidarous)
