When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Melvin “Sonny” Bunyan Price, 74, of Lake Brownwood went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
He was born to loving, Christian parents, Bunyan Sterling Price and Mollie Martin Price, on Aug. 15, 1940 in Buffalo. He married the love of his life, Lou Ann Fuqua, on June 18, 1961. Following his graduation from Andrews High School in 1959, Melvin went to work in the oilfields of West Texas until his retirement in May, 2006.
He was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Melvin was a principled, hard-working man with an exemplary work ethic and a great sense of humor. He was especially a blessing to his three children, raising them with what he had and showing them lessons through his own acts of respect, honor, faith, integrity, and love. He enjoyed gatherings with family to reminisce, tell stories, and share happy moments.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mildred Arnold.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his wife, Lou Ann Price; sons, Ricky and wife Connie Price of Gardendale, and Michael and wife Shannon Price of Bandera; his daughter, Lori and husband Terry Wilkerson of Lake Brownwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Casey Price, Heather and husband Trent Klein, Cassandra and husband Clinton Goodman, Blake Merrill, Hayden and Haylie Wilkerson; great-grandson, Carson Klein and coming soon, great-granddaughter Sunni Jane Goodman. Melvin is survived by his sister Wilma “Snub” Goldston of Brownwood; and a brother, Jerry and wife Susan Price of Denton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
