"Mrs. Sallie M. Oakley, wife of E. P. Oakley, died yesterday at 7:30 o'clock at her home four miles west of Rogers - a quarter west and a quarter south of Oakley Chapel. She had been ill for about three weeks with flu and pneumonia. While it is expected that the funeral will be held today no arrangements had been made at the time of our going to press last night, pending the arrival of a son. Mrs. Oakley, who was 70 years old, was born and raised in Benton county and all of her life was spent here. Her maiden name was Kindley and she was the aunt of Captain Kindley of Gravette, the American aviator and ace of the A. E. F. killed shortly after the war at San Antonio. Mrs. Oakley is survived by her husband and five children - three daughters, Mrs. Charles Adams of Rogers; Miss. Floy Oakley of Seattle, Wash., who arrived Christmas day, and Miss Francile Oakley, who is at home this winter, two sons - Cyrus Oakley of St. Louis, who was expected last night and Elwood Oakley, who is living in Michigan and is unable to come because of illness in his own family. Mrs. Oakley was one of the best known women in this part of Benton county and in her younger days had a wide reputation because of the many premiums won in not only the county and state fairs but as an exhibitor at the Chicago and St. Louis world fairs. She was a woman of tremendous energy and an untiring worker."
