Mary Elizabeth Houbreck was born about 1798 in what was known as Prussia now a part of the country of Germany. She married Jacob 'Jakob' Steffen in 1824 in her hometown after his 1st wife died in 1823. They had nine children in the 13 years between 1825 and 1838. She passed on Dec 31, 1838 in Pruessen at the age of 40, a few days after giving birth to her youngest son Jacob. Her exact burial place is unknown as in the country of Germany the graves are re-used after a several decades. (Bio by Gene Stephan)
