Timothy Dean Stephens, 57, direct descendent of Mayflower passenger, Edward Doty, died Friday, April 3, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia while visiting his son. Tim is survived by his Mother, Dorothy Ganey; Father and Stepmother, Glenn and Mildred Stephens; Sisters, Linda Davis and Liz Revels (Gary); Brother, Tom Stephens (Sharon); children, Scott, Stacy, Seth, Summer and Kyle; two grandchildren, Mason and Jaxson, and many extended family. Born October 23, 1957 in Fort Myers, Florida, he grew up in Groveland, Florida and attended Groveland High School. He served in The United States Army Band and was stationed in Germany and Korea. As a drummer in the United States Army Band for ten years Tim played for the funeral of a US General and the inauguration of a President, as well as performing for the Queen. He played in a band in Las Vegas and opened for many top name performers. He fathered 5 children and was a loving son and brother. A back injury 15 years ago disabled him and changed the course of his life: but one constant in his life was his love for his family and his devotion to Jesus and his faith that "all things work together for good for those who serve the Lord". Funeral services will be held at Purcell Funeral Home in Bushnell, Florida on April 14th at 11:00, viewing at 10:30, military services at Florida National Cemetery directly following service.
