Gwen Spencer Gray, returned to his Heavenly Father on April 12, 2004 at the age of 92.

He was born March 5, 1912, in Lewisville, Idaho to Margaretta A. Griffiths and Spencer S. Gray. He married Ethel Hawkins on August 15, 1933. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ethel passed away in June 1956. In February 1965 he married Bertha Saley and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away in December 1996.

Dad worked at various jobs before deciding to follow his father's profession as a painter. He worked for a number of paint contractors before retiring. In 1953 dad joined the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Posse and was still a honorary member until his passing. Dad later was involved in the Pony Express where he enjoyed the association and the yearly rides carrying the mail. Dad liked everything associated with horse riding. Even when he could not ride anymore he kept "Lady" his horse around for enjoyment.

Gwen is survived by three sons, Harold G. (Iris) Gray, Spencer E. (Kathy) Gray, Norman M. (Jackie) Gray; one stepdaughter, Susan (William) Barker, two step-sons, Richard Saley and Robert Saley. He is also survived by one brother; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Gwen was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Ethel and Bertha; a son, Gerald; and a great-granddaughter, Ashlee; also a sister and brother.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 16th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Country Park 4th Ward, 11200 So. 2700 W., South Jordan. Friends and family may call on Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy and also on Friday at the ward one hour prior to the services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
