Melvin Behrens, age 77, of Graceville passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND, after suffering a stroke on April 1, 2015.
Melvin Henry Behrens was born on September 8, 1937 at Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville to John and Sophia (Fuhrman) Behrens, the youngest of ten children. He was baptized on October 31, 1937 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN, and was confirmed on March 22, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, MN. Melvin attended District #59 grade school in Traverse County through the eighth grade.
On September 8, 1962, Melvin was united in marriage to Marilyn Zimmerman. Together they raised three children, Cheryl, David, and Brian.
Melvin was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and woodworking. The time he spent with family and friends, especially the time he shared with his grandchildren, was important to him. Melvin was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, MN.
