Douglas McKinney was born on October 22, 1942 in a cabin in McGrath, MN, the son of Benjamin and Sadie (Whitman) McKinney. He graduated from Fairmont High School and attended Mankato Vo-Tec for one year. Doug served in the US Army 1965–1966 in Korea. On August 17, 1968 Doug was united in marriage to JoAnn Wackwitz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont, MN. He drove a dump truck as driver for Iowa Roadbuilders until Manatt’s bought the company. He worked for Manatt’s 26 years before his health forced him to retire. After a long battle with lung cancer and finally congestive heart failure, he passed away and entered eternal life on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at his home in Radcliffe, IA. Douglas is survived by his wife of 46 years, JoAnn, of Radcliffe; children Candace (Mark) Meiers of Hubbard, IA and Ben (Jen) McKinney of Iowa Falls, IA; two granddaughters Anneliese Meiers and Beatrix McKinney. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Hastings and brother Lawrence McKinney.

Cemetery:
Per his wishes cremation will be followed by a private service at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
