Mrs. Anna L. Templeton, 89, who formerly resided on West Central, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Hospitality Nursing Home, where she had been a guest for eight years.
Mrs. Templeton was born Sept. 4, 1891, in Decatur County, the daughter of Franklin and Diantha Collicott Littell. A 1911 graduate of Greensburg High School, she attended Teachers College in Terre Haute and Madame Blaker's School in Indianapolis. She taught school 11 years, two years in the county and nine as a primary teacher in the old West School Building in Greensburg.
She was married to Gordon B. Templeton Nov. 27, 1917, and he preceded her in death in 1946. She was an active member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a member of the Historical Society of Decatur County, a charter member of the Pythian Sisters, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, and had served as president of the Women's Home Society, as superintendent of the Primary Department a number of years, as Superintendent of King Heralds 15 years and as superintendent of Mother Jewels 10 years. She was a member of the Fellowship Class and was a primary Sunday School teacher approximately 30 years.
She was the last of a family of seven, and was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Charles Littell; and four sisters: Elsie Littell, Mrs. John (Lena) Deniston, Mrs. Charles (Clara) Dravis and Mrs. Ivan (Della) Grigsby.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including John Henry Deniston of Sardinia and Mrs. Louise Robbins of Greensburg.
The services will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Chattin officiating and with burial in the South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. on Sunday.
