Kristi Hansdatter Feigum Thompson: Obituary from Mower County Transcript Newspaper 8/16/1905 LEROY Mrs. Christe Thompson wife of Henry Thompson met with a fatal accident at her home five miles west of LeRoy on Tuesday August 8. She threw a lighted match on the floor supposing it to be extinguished and it set fire to her clothing, completely enveloping her in flame before her daughter in the next room became aware of her condition. About twenty years ago she was smitten with a stroke of paralysis and having three lighter strokes since was nearly helpless. Her daughter, Mrs. Nelson's hands were badly burned while she with Mr. Thompson did all in their power to extinguish the flames and aid the unfortunate wife and mother but she was so badly burned that she passed away in a few hours later. She was born in Norway July 19, 1840, came to America in 1863, was married in 1865 and came to Minnesota in 1877. While they have had the sad misfortune to bury their five sons, the six daughters were all present at the funeral which was conducted by Rev. G.H. Strand of Albert Lea at the residence and at the Lutheran church of which she had been a life member. She was a consistent Christian and bore all her sufferings and trials with patience and resignation to the will of God. Her Bible being her greatest solace and comfort.
