Marvin R. "Bud" Scotchmer Sr., age 85, of Penn Yan, N.Y. formerly of Wayne, NY died Friday April 8, 2011 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan.

Marvin was born Aug. 15, 1925 in Hammondsport, NY, the son of the late Howard and Ella Smith Scotchmer.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS McNulty.

On Feb. 6, 1948 in Penn Yan, NY,He married the former Mildred E. Dillon; she passed away on Nov. 2, 2008.

"Bud" as he was known to most, had been a painter when he was young; worked for many years in the vineyards along Keuka Lake; and had been a Grounds Keeper at Camp Gorton Boy Scout Camp. He retired as a Tow Motor Operator in 1987, after 27 years of employment at Ingersoll- Rand, in Painted Post, NY.
Mr. Scotchmer was a Life Member and Past Historian of the Wayne American Legion Meade-Price Post 1208; and a Life Member of the Wayne Fire Dept.; he was an avid hunter, and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and yard work.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by 2 sons, Marvin R. Scotchmer Jr. of Campbell, Ralph W. Scotchmer of Elmira Heights; 4 daughters, Margie J. Rutledge of Painted Post, Hazel E.(Robert) Jones of Fountain Inn, SC, Joan L. Scotchmer, and Tammy S. (Ray) Secord both of Dundee; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Connie Scotchmer of Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a grandson Sean Rutledge; 2 brothers, and a sister.
