RICHMOND, Ind. – Sheila Yvonne Walker Howard, age 67, of Richmond, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 3, 1947, in Mason, West Virginia, to Dallas E. and Ruth Roush Walker, Sheila lived most of her life in this area. She was a 1965 graduate of Wahama High School in Mason, West Virginia, and a 1966 graduate of Charleston Beauty Academy. Sheila married the love of her life, Okey “Nick” Howard and they moved to Richmond in 1966. She worked as a hairdresser until her children went to school and then began working at Stride Rite Corp where she served for 36 years. Sheila was a member of Centerville Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Okey “Nick” Howard to whom she was married on November 25, 1966; sons, Mitchell Howard of Richmond and Shawn Howard of Cambridge City, Indiana; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Howard of New Madison, Ohio; grandson, Braden Plunkett; great-granddaughter, Devan Flood; mother, Ruth Roush Walker of Richmond; future daughter-in- law, Meranda Miller; future granddaughters, Haley and Sierra Miller; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation for Sheila Yvonne Walker Howard will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
