Lewis Henry Harris, Sr. (L.H.), 81, of Newport departed this life Wednesday, April 8, 2015. He was a member of Calhoun Street Church of Christ and he enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Harris; two grandchildren, mother, Eddie Lee Carrol; four brothers, Leroy Smith, Dale Nelson, Johnson Nelson, and Henry Lee Smith; one sister, Princella Hart; and two brother-in laws.
His survivors are eight sons, Lewis Henry Harris, Jr., of Batesville, Phillip (Susan) Harris of San Antonio, Texas, Willie (Brandy) Harris of Diaz, Jimmy (Roxana) Harris of Batesville, Roger Harris of Batesville, Jeff Harris of Diaz, Alvin (Ruth Ann) Thomas of Searcy, and Ira Foster of Missouri; five daughters, Linda Harris of Diaz, Shirley (Ricky) Steward of Diaz, Barbara (Nate) Hanson of Illinois, Marjorie Harris of Newport, and Linda (Mike) Ike of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two brothers, LeAndra Carroll of Gary, Indiana, and Joe Bell (Nancy) of Peoria, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Nettie Arnold of Jonesboro, forty two grandchildren; and twenty four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Holden Avenue Church of Christ.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015.
