He was born April 26, 1923, in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Albert and Mary Lou Morgan Johnson. He married Pauline Naillon in 1944 in Salt Lake City.
He served as an officer in the American merchant marine service in World War II. He owned a business, Grandpa's Bunny Farm, until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jo Ann Kellis of Springfield, Shery Johnson and Peggy Peters, both of Eugene, and Nancy McLane of Shasta Lake City, Calif.; three sons, Paul of Eugene, David of Soldotna, Alaska, and Craig of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Donna Kurczodyna, died previously.
Arrangements by Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene. Burial will be in Roseburg National Cemetery.
