JAMES WESLEY HALL born May, 8, 1944 in Weiser, Idaho to Georgia and Burley Hall, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Rogue Valley Medical Center due to heart failure.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 18th 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints Stake Center, 1969 Williams Highway, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. Bishop Lyndon Woolley officiating.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years Rosemarie Hall, his daughter Regi Jean Marie Hall of Rogue River, Oregon, son Jack James Burley Hall of Eagle River, Alaska, grandchildren. Sarah, Kateland, Rachel and Jacob Hall all from Eagle River, Alaska, mother-in-law Micheline Lentz, daughter-in-law Laura O'Neill also from Eagle River, Alaska, and his sister Dorris West of Bend, Oregon and her four children, Doug, Roberta, Paula and Jamie. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Jack Lentz, his brother-In-law Reggie Lentz and his sister Roxie Nelson.

Jim graduated from high school in Bly, Oregon where he excelled at athletics and was an honor roll student. Jim joined the U.S. Army in 1964 as an enlisted man. His military career ended 28 years later with his retirement from the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired holding the rank of Full Bird Colonel.

Jim joined the Oregon State Police Department where he served as a patrolman based in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He left the State Troopers to take a position with the Chiloquin Police Department as their Chief of Police. There he turned the small department into one of the finest in the State of Oregon. He worked as the Chief of Police until a near fatal stabbing suffered in the line of duty, forced his retirement from law enforcement. Over the next years of his life he worked for Cascade Timber Company in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Hilton Trucking and Fuel Company in Central Point, Oregon and retired from U.S.F. Reddaway in Central Point, Oregon. Jim was able to continue his community service work as he also held the appointed position of Municipal Court Judge for the City of Rogue River, Oregon, a position he held for 18 years until his death.

Jim always believed in giving back to his country and local community. He was very proud to have had the opportunities to serve. His career in the U.S. Army and his work in law enforcement clearly demonstrated his patriotism.

He leaves behind many friends. His family says this about Jim, "He was an honest, hardworking man who always provided for his family. His high moral character and voice of reason have guided us all. His love and friendship will be greatly missed."
