Lee Wayne Riley was the son of Melvin Vester Riley and Phyllis Jean McIntosh.
Lee enlisted in the United States Army following graduation from high school. During his military service, Lee earned several awards and medals including the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal-Korea, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral One, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Expert Rifle Award. He retired as a Master Sergeant.
On November 2, 1968, at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Lee married Gloria Jean Edwards.
