Kenneth "Ken" Lee Ames, age 63 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his home.

Ken was born October 22, 1951 to Harry and Helen(Glidwell)Ames in Green City, MO. He married Mary Zaragoza December 19, 1992.

He served in the Air Force during Vietnam. Ken went to Indian Hills Community College and received his Associate's Degree in Lasers & Robotics. Ken has lived in the Fairfield for 38 years. He worked at Hadley Plumbing & Heating for 3 years.

Ken's hobbies and interests were: collecting coins and stamps, reading (science fiction), avid Cardinals fan, politics, and all sports. He and Mary liked going to their grandkids activities and cheering them on. The most important was spending time with family & friends. Ken attended Faith Christian Outreach Church(FCOC).

Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Ames; five children, Scott(Selina)Simpson, Nicole(Beau)Smith, Samantha(Cory)Septer of Fairfield, IA, Erica Ames of Milton, IA and Nathan Ames(Tabatha)of Rome, IA; his mother, Helen Ames of Green City, MO; 8 grandchildren, Alexander Simpson, Nichole Septer, Austin Simpson, Hannah Simpson, Madison Septer, Bruce Claman, Phoenix Smith and Naevia Smith; and 2 siblings, Gordy Ames of OK and Kathy Techau of TX.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Ames; and three Aunts.

Per his wishes the body has been cremated. There will not be a visitation. Memorial service will be 2 pm April 12, 2015 at Fairfield Art's & Convention Center with Pastor Gary Van Nyhuis and Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating with military rites following the service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Ken & Mary Ames Memorial.
