Clara "Minerva" Miner Van Dusen Coyle (144808030)
Her Obituary says "Miner" is her maiden name.
McCalla and Van Dusen were her last names too. McCalla was listed on the Birth Certificate of Nellie Myrtle Coyle in 1872. Clara was also the widow of Samuel A. Coyle who died in 1873.

Died: March 10, 1914 in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Clark County). She is laid to rest at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
In 1873, Clara "Minerva" Coyle was left a widow with four small children (forty-one years ago), but kept the family together and educated them by her own labor and unfailing trust in God. Samuel A. Coyle and Clara Minerva Coyle had five children together (only three were living in 1914). It is known that Clara lived with her children in Geneva, Indiana (Adams County) in 1891 because her daughter Nellie "Myrtle" Coyle graduated from school (Wabash Township Public School) in Geneva, Indiana in 1891.

Died: 1873 in Shelbyville, Indiana (Shelby County).
He served in Civil War in 1864.
Census shows he lived in Shelby County, Indiana in 1860.
Samuel A. Coyle married Clara "Minerva" Miner in 1862 in Ross County, Ohio.

I am the great, great grandson of Clara's husband Samuel A. Coyle as my great grandmother was his daughter, Nellie "Myrtle" Coyle Lewis. Gary W. Stanford.

The five children of Samuel A. Coyle and Clara Minerva Miner Coyle were:

i. Clara Ann Coyle (19480258). b. November 22, 1862 in Shelby County, Indiana; d. May 25, 1864 at age 18 months and 28 days. She is buried at Winchester Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana.

ii. Edgar Coyle
b. 1865 d.

iii. Loretta Coyle Shore (Married John William Shore) They lived in Hope, IN.
b. 1868 d. July 8, 1815

iv. Rev. Frank Arthur Coyle Sr. (144975963) (b. April 1, 1870 in Marion County, Indiana d. July 27, 1936 in Shelby County, Tennessee).
Wife: Marie Antoinette Giezentanner Coyle (79667469) (b. October 6, 1879 ; d. December 31, 1972). Marie is buried at Gap Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Kimberlin Heights, Tennessee (Knox County).
Rev. Frank Arthur Coyle married Marie Antoinette Giezentanner Coyle on March 15, 1900. He lived in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Clark County).
He was a Christian Minister for 38 years in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Clark County).

Rev. Frank Arthur Coyle and Marie Antoinette Giezentanner Coyle had four children together:

1. Florence Coyle Garrett (79667455) (b. March 22, 1905 ; d. March 16, 1971 in Knox County, Tennessee). Florence married Wade D. Garrett (60121914) in Knoxville, Tennessee.

2. Mabel Janet Coyle Strunk (86189070) (b. October 8, 1908 : d. September 30, 1952 in Big Lick, Tennessee (Cumberland County).

3. Mary Coyle (Mary Coyle is listed in 1910 Census as it say Florence W., Mabel Janet and two other siblings. Mary Coyle is not listed in 1920 Census but the other three siblings are listed). She was born before 1910 and died before 1920.

4. Frank Arthur Coyle Jr. (27234357) (b. February 13, 1914 in Indiana ; d. May 3. 1978)
He married Letitia Ruth Williams Coyle (27234301).
Frank is buried at Ward Memorial Cemetery in Lucy, Tennessee (Shelby County). He is buried next to his wife, Letitia Ruth Williams Coyle.

v. Nellie "Myrtle" Coyle (Mrs. Paris D. Lewis) (14925432) from Shelbyville, IN.
b. June 30, 1872 d. January 22, 1949. It is known that Nellie "Myrtle" Coyle lived in Geneva, Indiana (Adams County) in 1891 because she graduated from high school there (Wabash Township Public School). She was one of only four students to graduate in 1891. Nellie "Myrtle" Coyle Lewis married Paris D. Lewis in 1895 in Shelby County, Indiana. They had three daughters together: Mary Edith Lewis (died at age 5), Hulda May Lewis Westerfield and Frankie Hazel Lewis Fagel.

Clara Minerva Coyle was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, May 9, 1844. Married Samuel Coyle, of Indiana, of which union five children were born, three of whom are living -- Mrs. John Shore, Hope, Indiana; Mrs. Paris [Nellie] Lewis, Shelbyville, Indiana; Frank Coyle, Howard Park. A half-brother, Douglas Dobbins, Franklin, Indiana, completes the list of immediate relatives living. She was left a widow with four small children forty-one years ago, but kept the family together and educated them by her own labor and unfailing trust in God.
She gave herself to Christ at the age of thirteen, uniting with the Christian Church, and during the last fifteen years of almost constant physical suffering she had found Him an ever present help in trouble. It has been her custom for years to read a portion of his Word from her mother's Bible every night before retiring.
No doubt she could say with Paul, "To depart and be with Christ is far better for me.
She died March 10, 1914, at the home of her son, Frank A. Coyle, at Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Funeral services were conducted March 12th at the home by Rev. W. Graham Walker, pastor of the Central Christian church of New Albany, assisted by Rev. John Anderson, pastor of the Harrison Avenue M.E. church at Jeffersonville. Interment in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery at Jeffersonville.
