A lifelong resident of Wells County, Claude Eugene Bennett, 80, of Bluffton died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Mr. Bennett worked 36 years for Franklin Electric Co. He also worked 10 years for C&C Oil gas station and was a custodian for six years for First Church of Christ, where he attended. He was an Army veteran with service during World War II.
Born July 14, 1925, in Chester Township, he was a son of Edson and Clara (Goodin) Bennett, and was a Chester Center High School graduate. His marriage on March 17, 1951, in Montpelier was to Carolyn J. Hardin, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marcia Hernandez of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Michael Bennett of Bluffton; a sister, Mrs. Doyle (Bonnie) Sullivan of Bluffton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Gentis and Cleo Aker; and two brothers, Ralph and Bob Bennett.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Larry Sprinkle and Mark Dauterman officiating.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday, all at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Redman Cemetery, Warren, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 111.
Preferred memorials are to First Church of Christ, Christian Care Retirement Community or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
