Mr. Young graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy and served Bartholomew County for a period of time as both a Columbus Police Officer and also as a Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputy. He retired from PECO after 32 years as a machinist.
Mr. Young loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed music, karaoke, classic cars, camping, horse back riding, fishing, riding dirt bikes, motorcycles and Civil War re-enactments. He was an excellent handyman, machinist/tool maker and a self-taught computer repairman. He was also a former Mason.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Roy Hendershot officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.

Born in Jackson, Kentucky, on March 22, 1950, he was the son of Conner and Georgia M. Haddix Young.
Survivors include two sons, Rick (Brenda Harden) Young of Hope and Anthony "Tony" (Kendra Gonzalez) Young of Columbus; two sisters, Peggy (James) Mitchell of Columbus and Paulette (Dennis) Wessel of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Brenda Franke; and a nephew, Cole Elam.
