Julie was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Mora, Minn. Her family moved to Texas when she was a child, first to El Paso and then settled in Lake Jackson. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in education. She moved to Fort Worth and taught typing at Paschal High School. After meeting on a blind date, she married attorney Dan W. Lane on Aug. 12, 1966. She put her teaching career on hold to raise their two children. A tireless PTA volunteer, she served in a variety of positions, but had especially fond memories of the North Hi Mount Elementary carnival. She eventually returned to teaching and impacted many students in the business department at North Side High School for over a decade.
An amazingly positive and energetic person, Julie shined love on all who knew her. Always thoughtful and generous with her time and affection, she provides a perfect example of a life well lived. She enjoyed shopping, reading, baking, playing bridge and spending time with her friends and family. A fighter to the end, her strength and determination are inspirational. The love she showered on her granddaughters, Sarah and Julia, will be a gift they will cherish forever. She adored being a grandmother and spending time with the girls. Each and every visit brought new, creative crafts, projects and recipes. She will be greatly missed. The family is extremely grateful for all the care Julie received over the past several years at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lauretta Musick; and her husband, Dan Lane.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Andrew Elliott; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Hilary Lane; granddaughters, Sarah and Julia Elliott; brothers, Gary Jacobson, Ron Jacobson, David Musick and Reece Musick; and stepfather, RP Musick.
