Clifton Cooper, 84, died May 20, 2006, in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter. Born Nov. 10, 1921, near Marmaduke, AR, son of the late Clarence Clifton and Arlie White Cooper.
He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter.
A former employee of the City of Dexter Street Department, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II.
On Feb. 3, 1948, in Piggott, AR, he was united in marriage to Geneva Cooper who preceded him in death on April 1, 1986. On Dec. 11, 1987, in Dexter, he married Violet Tracer, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include one grandson, raised in the home, now of Tucson, AZ; one step-son, Carl Tracer Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; three step-daughters, Emma Faith of Aurora, Debra Algood of Dexter and Bonita Tracer of St. Charles; two brothers, J.D. Cooper of Kirkwood and Galon Cooper of Arlington, TX; seven step-grandchildren and six great-step-grandchildren.
One daughter, Judith Lee Cooper; one step-daughter, Patricia Ann Bolin; and one sister, Mildred Embrey, preceded him in death.
Visitation is Tuesday at the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. The Revs. Kenneth Biggs and Don Cooper will officiate. Burial with Full Military Rites will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
