Katherine was the eighth child born of the ten children to George and Ethel Bessire. Katherine also known as Kay through school and her adult life and was raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado near Grand Junction. Raised on a farm the family never had much except a lot of family love. Born in Appleton but raised in Loma, Kay attended Loma elementary school before going on to Fruita High School. In Fort Collins, Colorado Kay married her sweetheart Myrle Ackerson on August 3, 1946, and were together until his death in 1999. They lived and raised 2 children in Cheyenne, Wyoming . Katherine was cremated with no burial site.
