A lifelong area resident, he was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Westfield, N.Y., a son of the late Richard H. and Margaret Bush Davenport.
In previous years he was employed by Jamestown Metal, John Wiggers and Son, the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Phoenix Metal and was a bus driver for the YWCA in Jamestown.
He enjoyed being outdoors working around the farm, woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping.
Surviving are his wife Carol J. Shaffer Davenport, whom he married Sept. 16, 1961, two sons: Scott D. (Connie Grove) Davenport of Ashville and Mark E. (Sharon) Davenport of Panama, two granddaughters: Courtney Lescynski of Mayville and Kalli Daven-port of Ashville, a brother, Daniel J. (Elaine) Davenport of Ashville, and a sister, Patricia (Gordon) Saulsgiver of Lakewood.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Brian A. Davenport, who died June 12, 1989, and a brother, Gary Davenport.
