Son of the late Daniel P. and Louise Fulda McArdle, he was born October 21, 1916 in Newburgh.
Daniel was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of 1935, and a graduate of Spencer's Business College. He retired from West Point after 35 years as a Civilian Personnel Officer. In 1992 he was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame, was a member of AARP, and a member of the National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Virginia Conners and her husband Kenneth of Newburgh; granddaughter, Lisa Tufano and her husband Al of Port Jervis; his nephew, Kenneth J. Masten Jr. and his wife Joy of Newburgh; his loving caregiver Barbara Smith, several cousins, and his loving cats, Misty and Shadow.
He was predeceased by his sister, Edith Masten, and brother-in-law Kenneth J. Masten, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Newburgh.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Daniel's behalf may be made to Hospice of Orange, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550, or Mid-Hudson Animal Aid, 60 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508.
