Janet was born April 28, 1955 in Washington, DC to the late Thurston Adams and Marian Duvall Adams.
She had worked for the State of Delaware in the Office of Emergency Medical Services for 6 years. Janet had graduated from Partners in Policy Making and has since advocated or mentored over 200 people with disabilities. She was on the State Council for Persons with Disabilities; Governor’s Advisory Council for DSAMH; Disabilities Law Program volunteer and board member of Protection and Advocacy for Individual Mental Illness, member of NAMI. Janet was also a past member of the Frederica Senior Center.
Janet biggest enjoyment was being with her family and serving as a volunteer.
She is survived by her husband Alan Gray Sherman of Marydel; children, Angela Dawn Ehst and her husband Michael of Hartly, April Marie Greenly and her husband Adam of Marydel, son, Mark Leitch and his wife Linelle of Baltimore; step children, Julie Smith and her boyfriend Bob Goldtwait of Bow, NH, Nikia Sherman, Nicholas Sherman and his wife Kelly and Nathaniel Joseph Sherman all of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Christian, Linda, Britney, Mark, Veronica, Dylan, Wendy, Ashley, Adam and great grandchild Jeremiah and Cameron.
Funeral services will be held 1PM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Freedom Baptist Church, 201 S. Market Street, Frederica, DE. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 at the church. Interment will be at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery.
