from The Sun Herald, April 9, 2015.

Ronnie Seymour of Biloxi was known for his love of Caribbean cruises, the LSU Tigers, "Saturday Night Live" and volunteering his time to better his community.

"He lived life to the fullest," his sister, Sheila Seymour, said.

Seymour's passion for volunteering with the Special Olympics eventually led him to being named director of area 12.

"Ronnie was great to work with," said Terry Shinall, athletic director of Mississippi's Special Olympics branch. "A guy like that is always great for the program."

Shinall said Seymour gave the athletes everything he could and they responded to his guidance.

"He was just so genuine," Shinall said. "When he spoke, you listened and learned."

Sheila Seymour said Ronnie had a vigor about him that usually made him the center of attention.

"He loved events with a lot of people," she said. "His favorite was Mardi Gras because he could talk to hundreds of people."

Ronnie was also an avid sports fan who bled purple and gold for his LSU Tigers.

"The funeral is centered around LSU," his sister said. "His urn is purple and gold."

Ronnie's love for sports extended beyond Baton Rouge, and he loved to bring his family with him on journeys to stadiums.

"He took our mother to an Atlanta Braves game and had the scoreboard technician put up a message wishing her a happy birthday," Sheila Seymour said. "Tears were in his eyes he was so happy he could do that for his mom."

Growing up with six siblings, Sheila Seymour said the house could be chaotic, but one constant was seeing Ronnie glued to the TV every Saturday night.

"As long as I can remember, he watched that show," she said. "He didn't miss an episode of 'Saturday Night Live' in his entire life."

She said Ronnie would take his great sense of humor with him to at least two Caribbean cruises a year and make a whole new slew of new friends.

"I like to think that's where he is now," she said. "Out touring those beautiful islands on his forever cruise."
