His father died September of 1921, 2-3 months after he was born, and his mother died in January of 1925 when he was about 3 1/2 years old. After his parents passed, he lived with his aunt, Nellie's sister, Annabel Nash Frye.

SUMMERFIELD - Mr. Jasper Gaines Hill, 75, died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brooke Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Robert Clinard.

Born in Fulton County, Georgia, the son of the late Jasper Gaines and Nellie Nash Hill. He was a retired Lt. Fire Inspector for the City of Atlanta, a member and former President of the Submarine Veterans of Georgia, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Torpedoman's Mate.

Survivors include wife, Annette Hill of the home; children, Nancy H. Rossitor of Somersworth, N.H., Bruce and daughter-in-law, Patty Hill of Kernersville; grandchildren, Brandy Stafford of Somersworth, N.H. and Gaines Hill of Greenville, S.C.

The family will receive friends at the resident from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, NC Affiliate, Inc., 3109 Popular Wood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604-1043.
