Clara Virginia Arvin, 85, Chapel House, died at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Hearthstone Place of natural causes. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with the Rev. John R. Christian officiating. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight. A native of Christian County, she was born Oct. 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Walter Franklin and Hallie Darnell Mabry. She had retired as a nurse's aide at Western State Hospital and had worked in the nursery at Second Baptist Church. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Her husband, Joseph Voris Arvin, died in 1980. A son, Charles Edwin Arvin, also preceded her in death. Survivors include six sons, Joseph V. "Buddy" Arvin Jr., Hopkinsville, Kenneth Allen Arvin, Spain, John Larry Arvin, Tampa, Fla., Ronald Preston Arvin, Nashville, Tenn., Michael R. Arvin, Memphis and Virgil M. Arvin, Elkton; four daughters, Mary Virginia Umdenstock, Long Island, N.Y. Jo Ann Sizemore, Northport, Fla., Patricia G. Pugh and Pamela D. Baker, both of Hopkinsville, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
