DUMAS - Vern Cummins, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Wichita Falls.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church of Dumas with the Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with Flag Detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mr. Cummins was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Hollis, Okla. He married Jean Teague on June 25, 1945, in Hollis.

Vern was an electrician for Diamond Shamrock and retired in 1988 after 35 years. He had lived in Dumas since September 1950. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a longtime member of Dumas VFW Post 9022.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dumas.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Cummins of Wichita Falls; two sons, Travis Cummins of Ninnekah, Okla., and Ronald Cummins and wife, Bobbi, of Mustang, Okla.; three brothers, B.A. Cummins of Dumas, Wendell Cummins of Hollis and Nolan Cummins of Seminole, Okla.; three sisters, Margaret Hassell and Velma Charles, both of Oolagah, Okla., and Peggy Tsukahara of Wiley; and four granddaughters, Carissa, Jacinda, Shaina and Caitlin.
