Funeral services for Virgie Murphy, 73, of Orchard, are scheduled 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Garmany & Carden Chapel in Rosenberg. The Rev. David Davidson will officiate, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Murphy died Sunday at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. She was born March 8, 1921 in Clarksville. Her parents were James Milo and Drucy Garner Cole. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg.

Survivors include her husband, James Murphy Sr.; a daughter and her husband, Wanda and Bruno Andel; a stepdaughter and her husband, Celestial and Pearson Paige; two sons and their wives, James and Jackie Murphy, and Kenneth and Rose Murphy; grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Andel, Doug Andel and his wife, Diane, Kim Hardy and husband, Curtis, Kay Young and husband, Jeff, James Murphy and wife, Dana, Dwayne and Rachelle Murphy, Brian Murphy, and Jan Paige; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis Ballew; and brothers, Carol, Gene, Charles, and Jack Cole.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Gibson, and by her brothers, James, Criss, and Floyd Cole.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Rosenberg.
