Sandra (Hooe) Hays, age 77, of 126 Wolverton Mountain Lane, Petersburg, WV died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at her home.
She was born June 20, 1937 in Washington, DC and was a daughter of the late Wilfred Hooe and Laura Jane (Pagan) Hooe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Lynn Hays in 2008.
Mrs. Hays retired from the United States Senate as Superintendent of the Senate Press Gallery.
She and her husband moved to West Virginia in 1990.
Mrs. Hays is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burl Hays Jr. of Petersburg, WV, one daughter, Vicki Jo (Peter) Hays Kopf of Stafford, VA; five grandchildren, Robert Thomas, Alexandra Barger, Michael Kopf, Caitlin Romano and Nicholas Romano and thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Casey (Skip) Thompson and Holly DiGuilian both of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 7, 2015, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Larry M. Cantu officiating.
Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, WV.
