Her family would ask that she be remembered for her unfailing dedication to husband and family, her love of flowers and gardening, and her never-empty cookie jar. She loved crosswords and cooking home cooked meals for her family. Her home was always the hub of any family gatherings.
Catherine was born June 22, 1923, in Rice to Jerome Curby and Bessie Myrtle Thompson. She graduated from Rice High School and in May of 1943 she married the love of her life, Edgar Wilson Nutt, of Corsicana. They resided in Corsicana until 1949 when they moved permanently to Tyler. They were blessed with two children, Cathy Ann and Donald Hunter.
She loved traveling, and together they traveled to as many different locales as caught their fancy. In later years she and Wilson frequently traveled with the Good Sam Club. She was a avid soap opera fan and would often plan her schedule around "her stories." She was married to Wilson for 70 wonderful years until his passing in 2013.
She and her family were longtime members at Wesley Methodist Church, but in later years, Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church became Catherine's spiritual home, until health issues prevented her attendance.
She is survived by her brother, Charlie Thompson and wife Jackie, of Magnolia; her sister, Helen Braddock, of Arlington; her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tommy Darden, of Lindale; her son, Don Nutt, of Tyler; her grandchildren, Lisa and Brian Baker, of Arlington, Shaun and Roger Pigsley, of Sugar Land, Jeff and Dawn Darden, of Lindale, Dax Nutt, of Tyler, Jade and Heath Ginn, of Lindale, and Clayton Nutt, of Tyler; and her 10 great-grandchildren.
