After a long and painful illness Mrs. Miriam L. Robards, on the morning of November 18th, passed from this life. Though not an old resident of Alexandria, having removed here in 1882, deceased had a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will greatly miss her from their midst. Indeed, it is not too much to say that in the circle in which she moved there is not one whose absence would be missed more than hers. A sincere and earnest Christian, her consistent life inspired and encouraged all with whom she came in contact. Hers was a buoyant and hopeful nature, and there are many who will remember how the clouds have been driven away from their vision by her kindly and encouraging words and manner. She was always actively engaged, when in health, in all charitable, benevolent and missionary enterprises of the village and the Congregational church, of which she was a member.
Deceased was born in Mexico, N. Y., October 6, 1825, but removed to southern Michigan with her parents when a child, where she resided until the spring of 1882.
In 1847, Miriam L. Savage, for such was her maiden name, was married to George T. Robards, and for more than thirty-six years lived a happy married life, until in 1883, her husband passed to the other shore.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss five sons, who are all well known in this community.
The funeral took place from the family residence on Lake Winona on Friday at two o'clock, Rev. S. M. Wilcox officiating, and the remains were laid quietly to rest in Kinkead cemetery.
