C.F. "Fred" End, grandson of pioneer Greenville merchant Fredrick Ende, died Monday afternoon in a Rowlett hospital. He was 90 years old.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Father Phillip Gill officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Ende was a retired surveyor and civil engineer. As a colonel in the United States Army in World War I and World War II, he served in the South Pacific. Ende worked on a number of hydro-electric projects in the United States and abroad as an engineer.

His grandfather came to Greenville in the late 1850s where he established a business and built the home that is now located in Graham Park.

Ende was born April 3, 1899, in Hillsboro to Elard F. and Ola Ford Ende. He married the former Olive Sykes in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and she survives.

He was a member of the Texas Board of Land Surveyors and American Society of Civil Engineers, was a Mason, Shriner and Odd Fellow and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Fred Ende of Plano and a daughter, Carla Mase of Tyler; a sister, Dortha E. Pullman of Houston, and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Clayton, Dr. Keith Bearden, Ivan Gustin, Skip Harrison, Herbert Freeman and Oscar Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Duck, Charles D. Gaillard and Bobby Stovall.

The family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
