Mrs. Cross was born on Sept. 7, 1924, in Savannah, Ga., the only child of Marie H. and Robert Edward Bower Jr. Anne was in the Class of 1946 at Florida State College for Women (FSU), Tallahassee, Fla., and a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She received a degree in music from Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. Anne met and married Richard Cross in 1945 when he was a pilot stationed in Tallahassee during World War II.
Anne taught first grade at Edwins Elementary School in Fort Walton Beach, public school in Oklahoma, as well as teaching private piano lessons. She was a member of The Church of the Resurrection Episcopal Church, Shalimar, Fla., where she had been an assistant organist.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Richard L. Cross; three sons, Richard L. Cross Jr. and wife Barbara of Columbia, S.C., Ronald E. Cross and wife Cindy of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Robert B. Cross of Tallahassee, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jamie Anne and husband Derek, Joseph, Stephen, Marie, Karen and husband James, Amanda, Nicole, and Brent and wife Karen; and four great-grandchildren, Sedonah, Mateo, Madelyn Anne and Morrison.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Emerald Coast Nursing Center and Covenant Hospice for their loving care and support.
A graveside service will be held at Beal Memorial Cemetery on July 18 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Canon Michael Carr officiating and the Rev. Father Greg Mashburn assisting.
