Nathan Edward Payne, 81, Sanderson Drive, died this morning, Nov. 20, 2006, at Pinecrest Manor following a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with Terry Alan Jones officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until time for the service. A native of Christian County, he was born July 18, 1925, the son of the late William Edward and Ellie Eliza Gilkey Payne. He worked for many years in the shoe department of Arnold’s House of Fashion and had also worked at Social Butterfly. For the past 12 years he has served as a constable and was re-elected this year. He was a member of the Church of Christ. His wife, Gladys Geneva Morris Payne, died in 1995. Survivors include two sisters, Ella Juanita Woosley, Hopkinsville, and Dorothy Dell Johnson, Beaumont, Texas.
